I am unable to use my username to login. I get the following error even though my password is correct. Is it no longer to login from an non-institutional username? For example, if my user name was ‘myusername1’ , would this be an issue? Does it require to be myusername1@myuniversity.edu for example?
Things were working fine yesterday.

About account creation
Pavlovia is exclusively for scientific research purposes. Unfortunately spammers have been filling the site with posts/ads to their non-scientific websites. As a consequence, we now need to restrict sign-up.
You will need to sign up with your institutional email address since personal email addresses are no longer permitted. Academic research institutions (e.g. universities) should be automatically detected when you sign up but if you need a specific domain to be authorised, please fill up this form where you can tell us about the nature of your institution/research.
If you need a specific email address from a non-research institution (e.g. gmail) then you will need to pay a small one-time fee, which will hopefully act as a barrier only to spammers.

I had an account (since 2019 or the pandemic era) that housed all my experiments. I had another account that was at a canadian institution. Either way, I need access to my accounts back since they were created a while ago and are absolutely legit accounts.
I think the system is redirecting anything on the landing page with a non-institutional email to this error page.
Are you the admin? Can you please get things to where they were 2 days ago where i could login? On that note, I couldn’t clone my git url and that’s the same one I have always had.
I don’t mean to rush anyone on the admin team. I know you might be short staffed. But could you please let me know my account will be returning to normal soon (even if it is not today or tomorrow). I need to access my experiments without any issues using my old accounts (username is not institutional email address). thank you
Hello!
I don’t think you understood my earlier request. Please allow me to repeat myself.
I had two accounts already : one with username (inisar2) and another with my institutional address. I AM NOT CREATING A NEW ACCOUNT. I need access to both since they were both created a while ago and both housed experiments. If your policy changes on a certain date, you must apply it to accounts created after that date. To retroactively block all accounts in the past does not seem fair or make much sense. My accounts were created way back and I have used it to build experiments for a long time throughout my institutional time until access was punitively obstructed a few days ago to previously conducted experiments.
Please restore the accounts under username ‘inisar2’ .
Thank you
Just to confirm that we are not blocking existing accounts that use gmail. Indeed, nothing has been changed by us that would affect either account.
I just checked your inisar2 account and it uses your eecs.yorku.ca email address. Strangely though, the username for that account doesn’t match the profile name. It looks like you partially changed the name from inisar2 to irfa and that’s created an incompatitbility in the system somewhere. I strongly suggest you revert that to inisar2 so that the name/profile match.
Your inisar account uses your gmail and this account hasn’t had a log-in since Jan 2023
But, as I say, we haven’t changed anything to block either account. Try logging in again with your correct email address. Maybe send yourself a forgotten password in case that has gone wrong.
Ah, I can now see that you tried to do a password reset from your eecs email account a week or so ago, but the reset emailed bounced. I’ll get in touch with you by gmail to resolve the issue.
My inisar2 account was deleted by someone at the organization based on the following information I received from Pavlovia:
“”…becauce inisar2 has disappeared. "
I would like the account inisar2 to be restored from your backup services (I am sure you have a backup service or storage because you are hosting a lot of researcher’s code and they would not be happy if something went wrong such as a staff member deleting accounts!).
I would like you to reassign the restored inisar2 account with irfanisarapply@gmail.com so i can reset my password and regain access to my experiments.
If this is not possible, this is very concerning because this means that experiments cannot be safely hosted on pavlovia without fear of losses.
Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated!
thank you
Please restore my account inisar2 (and the experiments hosted on that account). Someone at the organization (accidently or with misguided intent) deleted that account or your server is compromised. The experiments were clearly present on the pavlovia server as of Feb 14. I ran my experiments hosted on that account on that day. Please restore from back up before the backups roll over. You can also access earlier versions of this account from over 6 to 8 months ago without issues (no significant changes were added).
I am assuming you have made the necessary checks such as checking the server is up/ping-able etc before writing to me and telling me that the account inisar2 has disappeared.
I need that account (and the experiments on it) restored.
Since someone at your org deleted the account (even if accidently), they should restore the account. This account was created before you implemented any new policies and while my institutional account was active and paid for.
As you say, the server space is free. There should be no reason for deleting my account inisar2 and every reason to restore it (I hope you don’t delete people’s account on your free servers if they graduate (since they already paid for these) to make them pay some more for the free account !?)
When can i expect that the account inisar2 is restored? You may go back in time to pull up an older version, say even 2023 August if you like and I can send you my tuition fees paid at the institution as proof of payment that the account was covered under an institutional license. Hoping to hear from you soon in case you have questions. I hope you will resolve this issue soon.
