Our subjects started the experiment and reported taking a break for about 10min, afterward, when they returned to the study, the survey crashed and they could not continue. When they refreshed the browser, their previous progress was not remembered, and they had to start over again (although a credit was shown as reserved). We are sure that there is no error in the study itself, as the subject was able to complete it with another try. We are wondering:
- What might be causing this?
- Is there a setting in Pavlovia or PsychoPy to extend the timeout period for the survey?
- Can the browser save participants’ progress, allowing them to resume without starting over?
- Is it possible to record incomplete responses from participants?
We appreciate any helpful info or suggestions! Thank you!
I haven’t managed to replicate this behaviour, either with a licence or with a credit so at the moment I can’t answer 1 or 2. 3 would be tricky to implement. 4 is possible (see below)

Please could you try replicating it yourself with a minimal survey? I didn’t try sleeping the PC while running with a credit.
If you have a licence then you can turn on “save on each page” if you switch the survey version to 2024.3.0 and change the setting. Once you have turned this setting on, you should be able to use and share the 2024.3.0 link even though reloading the page will show the survey version back at 2024.2.0
