What are you trying to achieve?:
Trying to open/start PsychoPy
What did you try to make it work?:
Uninstalled and reinstalled the program
What specifically went wrong when you tried that?:
The program is still slow to open. In addition, when in Builder, if there is an error in the code and an experiment stops abruptly, PsychoPy typically freezes/hangs, and I get an endless spinning beach ball. I have to kill the PsychoPy process and the python instance through Activity Monitor before reopening PsychoPy.
I am wondering if I may have some configuration issues with my installation of PsychoPy. I am using a MacBook Pro with 24 GB of RAM and an M4 Pro chip. PsychoPy is the only program that I am running at the time I try to open the program. When watching videos of others using PsychoPy, the program seems to start fairly quickly. When simply trying to start PsychoPy, it takes about 30 seconds to load and briefly becomes unresponsive. If this relatively slow loading is typical, I can realign my expectations, but I wasn’t sure if there might be a setting I can use so PsychoPy loads more quickly.
I’m not sure if it is related or not, but typically, when running an experiment through Builder, if there is an error in the experiment, PsychoPy freezes and becomes unresponsive rather than gracefully terminating. There is no way to close PsychoPy other than to kill the PsychoPy process and the related python process through Activity Monitor. Is this behavior typical when developing an experiment through Builder?
Many thanks in advance for any suggestions.
