For a computer running windows 7, I found running psychopy 2023.2.3 to be the most stable.
As Jen suggested, make sure everything is removed, and then install psychopy. Then when opening psychopy make sure you open the version you just installed. I found that sometimes psychopy won’t remove the builder/coder/runner/main program .exe functions (both when you install a new version AND uninstall the previous version) and if you accidentally try to open those, it makes it very unhappy. So just double check you are trying to open the psychopy version you just installed.
