How to Disable PsychoPy Splash Screen?

Hi all

I would like to ask if there is any way to either fully disable the PsychoPy Splash Screen (picture below) that appears over all programs while the program loads, or at least prevent it from appearing over other applications.

Since PsychoPy takes some time to open on my machines, this ends up being quite a nuisance, since I am unable to just leave it loading in the background and continue my tasks, but instead have to wait for it to finish loading while it takes a big chunk of my screen center.

Platform: MacOS and Windows (either is fine — if both have a solution, it’s even better)
PsychoPy Version: 2026.1.3

Thanks

Sure. On any platform open PsychoPy Preferences, and in the “Application” section you should find an entry called showSplash:

Do also give the new PsychoPy Studio a go - it loads so fast that you barely see the splash even if it’s turned on. Parts of the app, like available components continue to load after the app, but at least the window is open and ready for interactions.
