Description of the problem: Hello there! I have been trying to figure out this problem for hours, but it exceeded my little knowledge on coding so far. I am trying to pilot a PsychoPy experiment online, but I keep getting this error message:
Unfortunately we encountered the following error:
when starting the experiment
when opening a session for experiment: flaviozenteno/gjtaleman
the pilot token is invalid
Try to run the experiment again. If the error persists, contact the experiment designer.
So far, everything works when I open it in my desktop, but getting it online is the issue, since I am not very skilled at coding at the moment. Is there anybody who can enlighten me with this, please? Thanks in advance!
I have tried that several times, but I still get the same error. I think it might be related to the Java script, but I honestly don’t know much about coding.
I’ve just had a look and the issue is that you have html in Experiment Settings / Online / Output Path. Delete this and the local html folder in your experiment folder. Then resync. You might also need to set the experiment to inactive and then piloting/active again. Then try again.
I tried everything you said! The good thing is that I can run it by activating the option “Pilot in browser” directly from PsychoPy (before I couldn’t). Now, sadly I keep getting the same error when I try to run it on Pavlovia (made the experiment again just in case, now it’s “flaviozenteno/trialgjt” ):
Unfortunately we encountered the following error:
when starting the experiment
when opening a session for experiment: flaviozenteno/trialgjt
the pilot token is invalid
Try to run the experiment again. If the error persists, contact the experiment designer.
I have no idea why the pilot token thing is still acting like that.
I can’t see any obvious issues now. Please could you give an example of your piloting URL? Alternatively, please add me (Wake) as a developer and I’ll take a look myself
@wakecarter I feel like a real fool right now. When I added you as a dev I realised that the message said “added 1 hour ago”, which, of course, was not the case. Since the piloting token is valid for 1 hour I assumed that the reason for this was that the token already expired according to my timezone. Everything is fine now! Thanks a lot for your support and time, everything is working perfectly!
The pilot token works perfectly now, I could run the whole experiment without any issues! All I had to do was to go 1 hour back in my PC’s clock to make it work.
