Weird interaction between psychopy 20.2.10 and pc Win10

OS (e.g. Win10): Win10
PsychoPy version (e.g. 1.84.x): 2020.2.10
Standard Standalone? (y/n) If not then what?:

What are you trying to achieve?:
I have different tasks that work both on a Win10 laptop (attached to a desktop that mirrors the laptop), another Win10 laptop, and Mac laptop; they only work under version 20.2.10 but that is fine. Now I need to replace the Win10 laptop (this is the one I am using for my tasks) by an Win10 pc (but same desktop screen). When I install psychopy, the tasks runs untill I restart the pc, then the tasks do not work (only a grey screen appears and it is not possible to use escape to end the task). I get the message below when I then quit psychopy.

What did you try to make it work?: Reinstalled several times, both on the admin and the user account of the pc (but the laptop had this same construction), but the same problem remains. Last week it suddenly worked again, but not after restarting the pc again. One time only one task worked but very slow and screens did not appear in the right order. Demos seem to work.

What specifically went wrong when you tried that?:
The error code when tasks do not start up is:
Include pasted full error message if possible. “That didn’t work” is not enough information.

Dear wakecarter,

Unfortunately it does not seem to be the runner, it opens when we open psychopy. It seems the task most of the time runs when we start the PC for the first time, but then if we restart the PC it won’t work anymore, the screen remains grey… (in both times the runner was open normally)…
