I am looking for an implementation of the classic colour Stroop task online so that I can use it as part of a bigger study that I will run in Qualtrics or gorilla (with participants pressing keyboard keys to reply at their own homes) recruiting via prolific. Gorilla provides a demo, but it is too short and I find it confusing as there is no correspondence between the keys to press and the colours (they use Q for red, W for yellow, O for blue, P for green) and there is no reminder of which key to press for which colour either, so I don’t think it’s ideal. Someone recommended pavlovia and I saw some versions of Stroop that could work (see link below), but it is not clear to me where/how the experiment would run/which software I should download and how to link Qualtrics to pavlovia. Any advice would be much appreciated!
Thank you,
All the best,
Dimitra
thank you so much for this! I ran the demo and it works fine, but I find it a bit as there is no reminder as to which key to press for which colour (left is for red; down is for green; right is for blue) and there is no easy correspondence (i.e. first letter R for red etc). There is also no feedback. Are these things you have considered? Thank you!
This is a basic demo that we often find users update themselves to their specific experiment. You could download the files used to create this experiment and open the .psyexp file in psychopy builder. From there you can easily change the key responses that you would like and also add a text component to remind participants what key presses to use.
If you are new to PsychoPy I would suggest having a look at our youtube tutorials to get started.
thank you so much! I’ve used psychopy in the past, when I ran experiments with people face-to-face, but what I want now is to use a online Stroop task embedded in a bigger online study run in Qualtrics or gorilla. That means participants will participate from their own homes, on their own computers, so the study has to be web-based. Perhaps I am confused, but I thought that the pavlovia files worked like that. Can you please clarify? Thanks again!
