'open'ing .psyexp file does not open Builder

On my Windows 11 machine, double clicking a *.psyexp file (or right clicking and selecting open) no longer causes Builder to open and load the file.

The file opens fine if I load Builder first and then file/open and navigate to it.

I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled (a different) version of PsychoPy (standalone) and this did not fix the problem.

Not sure how I managed to break it - but it’s somewhat annoying and I’d like to fix it - does anyone have any ideas? ( I’ve had a play with the Windows ‘default app’ settings but not managed to get the right settings :frowning: )

Something in my windows user profile are in APPDATA perhaps??

Many thanks

So, it seems that it simply needs associating with C:\Program Files\PsychoPy\python.exe

Hello,

I’m having the same problem. I’m not sure what you mean by ‘associating’. How do I associate it with C:\Program Files\PsychoPy\python.exe?

Sorry - can’t seem to replicate fixing it - (its more complicated than a traditional file association.) I assume you’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling? If not, then perhaps Wakefield or Todd can advise?

No problem, thank you for your reply. I managed to open it through a blank PsychoPy file, so I’ll stick with that until I can figure it out.
