Maintenance work on GitLab server: 2023-11-09 / 2023-11-10

Hi Becca, works again. thanks

Hello,
I’m not sure if this is connected to the maintenance work:
All my participants report a Gateway Error and cannot access the study: “p.frick/stories_c2_dfg
504 Gateway Time-out nginx Try to run the experiment again. If the error persists, contact the experiment designer.”

Also, I cannot access my studie myself. When I try to access the my dashboard, I see the following:

I have exact issue. Tried different browsers. Can’t browse my tasks at all.

Hi…
I have just lost the data of 20 participants because they were just running an experiment…
Any idea of what’s happening?
Will that data be available somehow?
Thanks in advance…
Yeray

Hi Everyone,

We are aware of issues in pavlovia.org this morning, apologies for any inconvenience. We are however hopeful that no data have been lost, we are investigating as a matter of urgency and will keep you updated as soon as we have more information.

Was it that participants received a particular error message @Yeray_Mera ?

Becca

Hi Becca,

Here is a screenshot of the error message:

Thanks for all your hard work,

Yeray

Hello all,

The issue, which also cropped up earlier today, has now been firmly resolved.
With my apologies for the mishap!
Best wishes,

Alain

Hello all,

I realize it has been some days already that the issues seem to be resolved. I have had 4 data collection sessions since Monday 27/11, currently conducting the 5th and 4 more to go within this week. I am losing participants’ data at an extreme rate: more than 50% per session. And there are no error messages on the browser. Can this be resolved? Is there a way I can retrieve the datasets before further recruitment?

Thanks in advance,
Eleni

Hello @elenikap ,

I am sorry you are experiencing issues with data collection.
Could you share your complete experiment path with me. I’ll have a look at our logs.
Best wishes,

Alain

Hi Alain,

Here is the path:

https://gitlab.pavlovia.org/elenikap/edcausal_p13

I am available for any further details.

Best,

Eleni

Hi,
I am not able to run/open my stroop test experiment using PsychoPy-2022.1.1 today. Is this due to the server update? I did runt this experiment two days ago. Please let me know.
Thank you,
Prasanna

Hello, it seems that all my experiments cannot run on Pavlovia
](https://pavlovia.org/) and has an error message "404 Not Found

nginx". The experiment was created in Sep 2021, but it runs successfully in 2022. Could anyone help me with that? Thanks a lot in advance!

Hello @Prasanna_Acharya ,

I would need the full path of your experiment so I can look into it.
Cheers,

Alain

Hello @Meredith_G ,

I would also need the full path of your experiment to investigate.
Thank you,

Alain

Hello @elenikap ,

I was wondering whether you have the id of the participant whose results did not upload? I am asking because sometimes designers do have them (there is a specific ID) and sometimes they don’t (the participants enter their names themselves).

I have gone over the logs. I did find a number of participants who did not finish the experiment.
For instance, on 2023-11-27, at 08:26:44.080 UTC, a participant started an edcausal_p13 session.
That session was abruptly closed at 08:26:54.028, 10s later, probably when the participant closed their browser tab.
The browser sent a request to the pavlovia server to save whatever data was available.
At 08:26:54.960 the server saved that data, which was empty (I suppose it would be normal after just 10s), to file: 2_edcausal_p13_2023-11-27_09h26.43.709.csv
At 08:26:55,282, that files was pushed onto the GitLab repository of your experiment, the commit id is: 98ae20c2af5289b656c7174c0a71b2030508a270, the commit name is: “data: 2_edcausal_p13_2023-11-27_09h26.43.709.csv”.
It can be seen there: Sign in · GitLab

However, that file is not available in the experiment /data directory.
That prompted me to check out your git history. It appears that you did a number of merges of branches that day. For instance, that specific file was deleted as part of the “v6f” commit, when a number of other files were also deleted, e.g. 431880_edcausal, 479917_edcausal, etc. Many of those contain actual data, they are not empty.
You can see them all here: Sign in · GitLab

Could it be that some of your missing data files are there?
It is of course entirely possible that this was you doing some legitimate cleaning, I am just trying to rule out potential causes.

Best wishes,

Alain

Hello!
Thanks for your reply!

Here is the experiment I need help with :(run) https://run.pavlovia.org/gu/sep15

Dear @Meredith_G ,

The issue appears to be linked to your project being created on the old GitLab server just after we had moved onto the new server, possibly because of a delayed DNS change.
Would it be possible for you to create it again? That would be the easiest way to go about it. But don’t worry if that is not possible, I can do it for you.
Best wishes,

Alain

Hello Alain,

Thank you for looking into this issue for me!

Since I need to aggregate all the data of the experiment, I need to make sure the identical experiment is used throughout. However, I don’t have record about the specifications of the original setup of the experiment.

Therefore, I would be grateful if you could help me transferring or recreating the project with its original specifications.

Thank you so much for your understanding!

Have a nice day!

Best,
Meredith

Hello Meredith,

With my apologies for the delay. I have sorted this for you. You are all set.
Best wishes,

Alain
