How to render emojis in psychopy?

Hi there,

I’m trying to run an experiment that presents emojis, however the emojis don’t render. They show up as a blank box. The emojis are copied and pasted into the excel sheet from emojipedia, but we also tried the default emojis in excel.

I’ve been googling around and people are saying I need to try another font to get it to render - does anyone have an idea of how to render the emojis (or what font I should be using)? Also if it’s a matter of the correct font, do I change the font in the excel sheet that the stim is being read out from, or the font in the text routing from the builder itself?

What are you trying to achieve?: render emojis in experiment

Dear Stacey,

I think the easiest fix for this would be to display the emojis as images. Paste the emojis in a software like powerpoint and save the slides as an image. For your experiment, the excel sheet would be paths to the images of the emojis, instead of the emojis themselves.
