Data on GitLab being accessible

Hi,

I have a question regarding the data file on GitLab that stores data from experiment run on Pavlovia. It seems to me that when I browse through some repositories of experiments which I discovered from Pavlovia’s explore > search feature, I can access the data file on that repository and just download the files in it without any restriction.

I tried running one experiment that is still active (set to Running), and I was also able to locate the file containing my trial run in that experiment’s repository.

  1. Would all this be visible if I set the project on my GitLab private? I’m concerned that if anyone can find the repository, then they will be able to access participants’ data.
  2. If I have set my experiment’s GitLab project private, would people still be able to find my experiment on Pavlovia? Right now I can find my own experiment on Pavlovia (whose project on GitLab is set to private), but I assume this is because I’m logged in so Pavlovia shows my own experiment.

Thanks!

Unfortunately there isn’t an option for public experiment and private data (unless you save via database in which case I think the log files would still be public).

If your experiment is set to private (the default unless you created it by forking a public experiment) then only logged in users who are members of the repository will be able to see your experiment or your data.
