What are you trying to achieve?: I am trying to pilot my experiment. The browser downloads about half of my resources before it stops and says unable to download resource.

error message displayed:

Unfortunately we encountered the following error:

  • when downloading resources

  • unable to download resource: 90_Adducted_Bent_5_Mouth_Lateral_Forward 18.mp4 (90_Adducted_Bent_5_Mouth_Lateral_Forward 18.mp4)

Try to run the experiment again. If the error persists, contact the experiment designer.

I made sure the file paths are the same in the repo, psychopy builder, and online additional resources tab on psychopy builder. I am pretty sure my mp4 files have h.264 codec so I am not sure what else to look at. My experiment has a lot of these video files and they are set to play randomly so I have been having trouble pinpointing an issue, any advice would be appreciated.

Hello @Chase

you noticed the space between Forward and 18?

Best wishes Jens

I had not noticed that. I fixed that space along with a couple other I found and tried to re-run the experiment but got the same error. I don’t see any spaces in this one and the naming seems to be consistent across documents.

Unfortunately we encountered the following error:

  • when downloading resources

  • unable to download resource: 90_E_Elbow_Circle_Self23.mp4 (90_E_Elbow_Circle_Self23.mp4)

Try to run the experiment again. If the error persists, contact the experiment designer.

Hello @Chase

When I encounter this error, I disable randomisation to see if it is related to a specific file.

In addition, try emptying the cache to see if that solves the problem.

Best wishes Jens

It seems that none of my videos will load in the github repository. They are over 10 MB so they don’t display automatically, but when I load them anyways it is just a black screen. I have tried replacing the files but I get the same result. When I download the videos they play fine, they just will not play in the browser.

Hello @Chase

What does that mean? Does that mean that none of your videos are stored in your GitLab repository? Or will none of the videos stored in your repository load?

What does that mean? Does your video run in a browser when you test the experiment locally? Or does that mean that your videos run on video software such as vlc? Have you consulted the page on stimuli for online experiments? Resources in online studies — PsychoPy v2025.2.0

Best wishes Jens
