I urgently need help with an error I’m encountering while launching PsychoPy on my Mac (macOS Sonoma 14.4.1).
The Issue: I downloaded the latest version of PsychoPy (2024.1.1) and attempted to launch it. However, I received the following error message: “Launch error. See the py2app website for debugging launch issues.”
What I’ve Tried:
Following the troubleshooting steps suggested on the py2app website, which recommended starting the application from the terminal.
Reinstalling PsychoPy.
Unfortunately, none of these approaches have resolved the issue.
If anyone has any suggestions, workarounds, or insights on how to fix this launch error, I would greatly appreciate your input. Thank you in advance for your time and expertise!
I also encountered the same problem. Interestingly, the psychopy software ran smoothly on my Mac. But suddenly, one day when I opened it again, it said the same error as your did.
I have also tried the methods provided on the official website, but it does not work.
Hi, wakecarter. Thank you for your suggestion.
The bug seems to be irrelevant with the versions because I installed multiple versions from the latest to older ones and none of them worked.
However, I found that the error may be due to corrupt cache/setting files in the .psychopy3 folders. So the problem is solved after I deleted the hidden folder on my Mac.
Ali, you can try delete this folder on your Mac and I think the problem will be resolved after reinstalling any version of PsychoPy program: /Users/YourUserAccount/.psychopy3
