PsychoPy performance

PsychoPy version: 2021.2.3
**Standard Standalone?: yes
What are you trying to achieve?: My task is a short, simple one, but every time the experiment ends or I end it using Esc, it takes some minutes for PsychoPy to be clickable. The interface fades and needs some time to recover! It also crashes from time to time, without a reason. My task is about to become longer, so I’m afraid I’d have problems recording participants.

Are there “best practices” to watch out for, when using PsychoPy Builder?

Could you share the experiment? This is strange behaviour for what seems like a fairly modern computer, it certainly shouldn’t be struggling with closing a window and saving data so I’m inclined to think there’s something else happening after the experiment finishes. The first things which come to mind are that there’s excessive logging happening, or there’s some permissions error that’s causing the program to go non-responsive after an experiment (is the data file being written to a protected folder?)
