PsychoPy experiment not showing up on Eyelink display computer

OS: Win10
PsychoPy version: 2024.1.4
What are you trying to achieve?:

Hi all, I have an eyetracking experiment on PsychoPy that I’m trying to collect data for using an Eyelink 1000. The experiment runs fine, and, using the calibration component in the Builder, there are no issues with the calibration process. However, after the calibration component ends, the experiment itself does not show up on the Host computer (the one participants sit in front of). It appears on the Experiment computer, but on the Host computer where the experiment is supposed to show up, there is just a grey screen. I’ve checked the IP addresses, pinging is fine, but still no luck. I’ve also tried running other experiments to check if there’s an issue with the original experiment, but those experiments also fail to be presented on the Host computer. As I mentioned before, calibration runs smoothly, so I am a bit confused as to why this is. Any and all help/suggestions would be much appreciated!

Hello @S_Mexim

Just for clarification. In sr-research terms, the host pc is the pc that run the software registering the eye-movements and controlling the eye-tracker while display pc is the pc on which the experiment runs. The display pc is the pc the participants looks at. Calibration and validation displays for a participant should appear on the display pc. In addition, a simplified version of the calibration and validation displays appears on the host pc with allows you to check the calibration and validation.

So, the experiment including calibration and validation for the participant should never show up on the host pc but on the display pc.

From the sr-research manual

So, do you start the experiment on the display pc?

Best wishes Jens

Hi Jens,

Ahh i see now, that makes sense - the lab I was trying to sort out had the Eyelink placed in front of the host computer, so I thought the experiment should show up on the host computer instead. That makes a lot more sense.

Thanks for the clarification!
