OpenBCI EEG integration without extra hardware

I have an OpenBCI headset. I understand there’s recommendations about all sorts of hardware integrations, but for now, what I’m aiming to do is simply connect Psychopy to the OpenBCI in a way that allows Psychopy to send markers when it delivers stimuli. I know the timing becomes problematic, but that is literally the point of our study (we’re looking at potential real-time, wireless solutions and exploring the challenges with that). I think the easiest way to do this is an LSL server with a marker channel, because the OpenBCI GUI doesn’t seem to allow an external marker from a software source? I’ve looked on their forum but it’s very much “go buy an arduino and photosensor” advice. I’ve seen talk of using the brainflow library somehow too, but not sure if that solution integrates with Psychopy. If anyone here has some experience with a more streamlined approach I’d really appreciate some help, as there’s just so much conflicting and confusing info out there.
