Microphone recordings with bad quality and slow speed

If this template helps then use it. If not then just delete and start from scratch.

OS (e.g. Win10): Win 11
PsychoPy version (e.g. 1.84.x): v2020.2.5

I have added a microphone component in the builder. The component works but what is recorded is audio with loud background noise, and the speed of the audio in the recording is slower than the actual speech. Tha same problem occur even the experiment is run in another computer.

No warning or error of audio is reported.

Here to provide one recording.
What I said is actually “123”, but what sounds like in the recording is “123~~”

Hey @Jason_Hua

I’ve documented how I collect microphone responses (and issues I’ve encounted) here:

Set your library to PTB and try adjusting the frequency and latency. I recently learned that my microphone was cheap and couldn’t resolve higher frequencies (like 48k range). I had a look at the manual and found the optimal range to be 8 - 16 k.

Thanks for your reply.

When I set the frequency to 8 kor 16 k, it turned out to be an error “stream object has no attribute”.

And it is strange that when uploaded to pavlovia, the recording is fine.
