How to read the results (reading time, reaction time) in the excel file in a self paced reading test

I need instructions on how to read the reading time of the words in the results shown in the excel file for a self paced reading test.

Without knowing any more details one can only guess.
From what I can see in the spreadsheet I assume that:

  • Participants can advance one word by pressing space.
  • After every sentence an image is displayed and participants need to respond to it. There is only one correct response, though.
  • “spr” stands for self paced reading.
  • “prac” stands for practice.

If you are interested in the reaction time for a single word you might want to check columns “spr_key_resp.rt” or “spr_rt_ms” (which are the same - one shows you the rt in seconds, the other one in ms).

If you are interested in the reaction time to the image, you might want to check the column “afc_key_resp.rt” - which gives you the rt in seconds.
You might want to check wheter or not participants responded correctly to the image by having a look at column “afc_key_resp.corr”.

If you are interested in the practice runs as well, you might want to check columns “prac_spr_key_resp.rt”, “prac_spr_rt_ms”, “prac_afc_key_resp.rt”, and “prac_afc_key_resp.corr”.
