EyeLink calibration points too large

OS: Windows 11
PsychoPy version (e.g. 2024.2.4 Py 3.8): v2025.2.3beta (can update if needed - but I had this issue with older versions too)
Standard Standalone Installation? y
Do you want it to also run online? n
What are you trying to achieve?: I want to change the calibration target to make it smaller, so it doesn’t fill the whole screen.

What did you try to make it work?

I have tried changing all of the settings in the PsychoPy eyetracker calibration routine. None of them have any impact at all - and it looks like none of the settings are being followed anyway as the colours ‘green’ and ‘black’ are in the settings, but the calibration circle is red and white (as seen in the video below).

Link to the most relevant existing thread you have found:

Animated calibration issues, Eyelink Portable Duo Builder

What specifically went wrong when you tried that?:

Any advice would be welcomed as I have tried everything I can think of!

Thanks,

Lucy

Dear Lucy,

Try going to your settings of the experiment and set the “units” to degrees (providing you set up your monitor with distances to calculate degrees of visual angle) or pixels.

Did you also refer back to this on Eyelink’s forum? SR Support Forum. The thread you linked mentioned they found some success from that side of things.
