Hi, sorry if this is a silly question, I have searched and can’t seem to find the answer.
I am revisiting an experiment made in version 2024.1.1, which seems to be a version to avoid ( PsychoPy versions to avoid ). When I came back, there were multiple bugs (example bugs below), when it ran mostly fine a few years ago.
My question is, would it be better to try to debug the experiment as best as I can before switching to the updated version, or is it best to switch to the updated version first, before re-debugging the experiment?
Example bugs:
- Unable to connect to git and therefore cannot run online experiment at all. Upon searching this forum it seems to be due to the version being too outdated - example error on trying to switch user to my account: GitlabAuthenticationError: 401: invalid_token. There was an unable-to-find-image type broken link bug a few months ago, but I can’t remember the details.
- Timing and alignment issues e.g. font size too large, images overlapping in timing of presentation (hopefully on the easier side to fix)
In general to be honest it seems to be quite a buggy experiment, with previous participants reporting un-replicatable bugs at maybe a 10% rate and I could never figure out why. Ideally I’d like to make a stable version for both online and offline use since several people have expressed interest in this experiment, and would like to know what the best way to proceed is.
