Can't start psychopy on macOS Big Sur 11.6

I just installed the latest version of Psychopy (2021.2.3) on my macbook which is running Big Sur 11.6. When I try running it, I get the message “Psychopy error” with the option to terminate or open the console.

Does anyone know the cause of the problem and how to fix it? This is very annoying because this problem seems to creep back with most of the latest psychopy release. I encountered the same problem about a year ago on Catalina. I opened a thread on the forum but I did not get a solution. It disappeared on a subsequent psychopy release but now it is back again.

I just started getting this issue today. I’m also on a Mac running Big Sur 11.6. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling various versions today without any luck and keep getting the same errors. Did you get anywhere with this or did anyone found a solution to this?

EDIT: I should say that I’ve had no issues running psychopy on this device prior to this.
