Cannot install PsychoPy on my desktop

Hi all, I am brand new to PsychoPy so please bear with me.

I cannot run PsychoPy on my computer. I am running macOS 10.15.5 (Catalina) and am trying to install the recommended Psychopy version, which is Standalone PsychoPy 2020.2.2.

I have no issues installing the program like any other application. When I launch the application, I get the following error message:

“'PsychoPy3 cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified.
macOS cannot verify that this app is free from malware.”

Then I have the option to cancel the launch or move the application to the trash.

I do not know how to fix this. I have considered trying to download an earlier version of PsychoPy but I cannot find any other download pages.

Try right-clicking on the icon and choosing the option to open the application from the contextual menu that appears. You should then get the option to say that you trust the application. If that doesn’t work, you’ll need to review the security settings in your System Preferences.

I added PsychoPy as a trusted application via my System Preferences - and now when I launch it I get a pop-up saying “PsychoPy3 Error”, with the option to “Open Console” or “Terminate”.

OK. So open the Console and check for any PsychoPy-related messages.

I’m also having a problem. There are a few other reports of issues with OSX (in the comments over on the announcements thread. Also a a github issue: https://github.com/psychopy/psychopy/issues/3060

You can find all previous versions here: https://github.com/psychopy/psychopy/tags

Specifically I am succussefully still running 2020.1.3 for OSX: https://github.com/psychopy/psychopy/releases/download/2020.1.3/StandalonePsychoPy3-2020.1.3-MacOS.dmg

Thank you! I installed 2020.1.3 and it seems to be working fine
