Adding wav file to routine is speeding up stimuli presentation

Hello

I’m running a task in version 2023.1.2 on a Windows 10 computer.

I’ve been running this task for several year. The task largely involves image presentation. Instead of a fixation cross, we display an attention getting video as we are working with infants. After this fixation video, we begin presenting images. We use frame rather than seconds for timing.

We recently decided to add a WAV file while the images present to help maintain interest. Since adding the wav file, all the videos are playing at double speed and the task is also presenting images twice as fast - it’s as if the refresh rate was doubled. If we disable the WAV file, the task returns to normal.

I’m having a hard time understanding how adding a WAV file could disturb the whole task! We are using the PTB audio as recommended.

Any suggestions would be welcomed

Does the video have sound?

Yes, the video also has audio.

Would this other thread suggest that I need to separate the audio from the video and play them separately?

I’m just struggling to understand why the audio in another routine would affect the video playback. I’m keen not to separate the video/audio if possible to keep the task as close to the original but can give it a go if there is no other solution.

Separating the video and audio didn’t work in my case when I tried to use them in the same routine. Did it work for you? Emotiv Local Experiment is crashing - #7 by ogi
