Hi,
I recently launched a study on Pavlovia that recruited via Prolific. When testing, I used 5-10 participants and experienced no real issues (that were server related), but when trying to deploy with 50 participants I began receiving messages from Prolific participants telling me that the study was ‘buggy’ and ‘laggy’. More specifics included text not being presented on screen, as well as stimuli components being shown as solid black boxes (which are not images present in my reosurce list). Others reported the study to have kept freezing, and major delays of up to 30s between routines. I had to cancel the study and request that all participants returned the study due to this issue.
The study used quite a lot of resources with over 40 unique images and 40 audio files (around 72MB in total).
In terms of participant behaviour, once they meet a technical issue, many of them likely restarted the study causing data and logs to be saved as well as begin the study anew.
Would Pavlovia have issues handling 50 concurrent users to a single study, who are trying to enter and complete the study simultaneously? Particularly if it means they are all trying to download and access resources at very similar times?
