What's the least clumsy way to generate a grating with an aperture?

Hi there,

I’m coding up a surround suppression experiment, and I’m wondering: what is the most elegant way to generate a grating with a hole in the middle? I need a gap between a central gabor and a surrounding grating. I could just draw another occluding stimuli with the same colour as the background I suppose, but I was wondering if there’s another way to do it, perhaps using ShapeStim rather that GratingStim.

Thanks - and sorry about the naive question!

Happy Easter,

Martin.

Well what do you know - there’s an aperture function! Visual.aperture(), in case anyone else asks the same :].
