XLS is very different from XLSX I’m afraid. But I see in the MATLAB documentation that it can also produce the latter. More officially it’s called “Excel 2007”. Here are some links:
Hey its still an issue, I fixed it by using XLSX file instead of CSV, but I think its best to document it someware, because CSV is the kind of the default for this.
