EEG triggers in psychopy

If this template helps then use it. If not then just delete and start from scratch.

OS (e.g. Win10):
PsychoPy version (e.g. 1.84.x):
Standard Standalone? (y/n) If not then what?:
What are you trying to achieve?:
for my experiment to run with EEG triggers added (I am using a visual stimulus and keyboard responses)

What did you try to make it work?:
I have followed all information that I could gather to add EEG triggers to a mini version of my experiment. I added the trigger component from I/O parallel out. The port address is added and all, the different triggers are set to begin in synch with each stimulus.

What specifically went wrong when you tried that?:
I am not getting an error message - so I am not knowing where to look. I am trying to compare code of the original vs. the one with added triggers.
After the fixation cross, an image is presented, then there’s a blank screen (500ms) then a question and you are prompted to make a decision (press A or D) is supposed to come up. HOWEVER, after the image is flashed, it just lingers on the blank screen. The question no longer pops up and no button moves me forward in the experiment. I have to resort to pressing the ESC button to exit.

Any tips on how to add triggers for a keyboard response?

Include pasted full error message if possible. “That didn’t work” is not enough information.

Hi There,

Does the experiment work without triggers? i.e. it is just the trigger causing the linger?

Becca

Hello, I ended up sorting it out. Yes the issue was just from the triggers. The experiment worked fine just before adding them.
Turned out the main issue was how to define the keyboard keys to be pressed. I am a psychopy beginner and I did not find how to define them, so I just tried various ways and then found what worked. Which ended up seeming very obvious.
