Delay between the sound and the image in video

Hallo,
I’m running an experiment that includes videos. I currently only uploaded one short video (about 10 sec, MP4 file) to complete the experiment build, and there is a significant delay between the sound and the image. I tried looking for solutions but could not find anything that worked. what could be the problem?

I’m using MovieStim3,
python 3.6.6
psychopy 2021 2.3

thank you,
Maya

Hello, I have the same problem. Have you solved it?

Hi!
I also have the same issue with both mp4 and avi formats.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Psychopy version is 2022.2.1

Hi, from version 2022.2.0, the movie component uses ffmpeg as its default backend which should help resolve the lag between audio and video.

Hi!

I just updated my psychopy to this version (2022.2.0) but still I have a delay between the image of the video and the related audio.
How can I verify that it is installed the ffmpeg as backend? Because looking at the settings I couldn’t find this option

Thanks a lot!

Hi, there’s been an even newer update version 2024.2.2 which you can try upgrading to to see if it fixes it. If not, I would suggest you pre-load your movie stimulus with a static component Static Component — PsychoPy v2024.2.2

Hi!
Unfortunately, version 2024.2.2 does not work for me, as I need a version compatible with the Tobii eye tracker.
Thank you so much for your suggestion, though! I’m currently trying to add a static component. Since I have a loop where 6 videos are randomly selected and presented, would it be fine to add the static component within that loop?
What would you recommend?
Thanks in advance!
Marta

Yes so instead of selecting set every repeat, you choose set during ISI
