What time is measured exactly?

Hi everyone,
I have implemented a self-paced reading experiment, which should measure the reading time per sentence. However, I’m not quite sure what time is being measured.
I’ve used the Builder, and it runs on Pavlovia.
In the experiment, the text is presented sentence by sentence – every time the participant presses the space bar, the current sentence erases, and the new sentence appears.
Would it be correct to say that the reading time is the time between two keypresses?
Or is it the time from the sentence’s appearance until the participant presses a key?
I know that this difference is probably not measurable online and even if it should be vanishingly small – still, I wonder how to express it correctly.
Connected to that: What if I’m changing the start time of the key component to a specific time e.g., 500ms – is it correct to say reaction time is measured after the stimuli were presented for approximately 500ms?

Many thanks in advance!

Hi there - good Q - it is the second that you mention (quoted above).

“What if I’m changing the start time of the key component to a specific time e.g., 500ms – is it correct to say reaction time is measured after the stimuli were presented for approximately 500ms?”
Yes I think that description would be accurate
