# Sound only plays out of speakers not headphones

Urgent, as my out-of-country colleague needs to collect data!

**OS** (e.g. Win10): Windows 11  
**PsychoPy version** (e.g. 1.84.x): v2024.2. 1post4  
**Standard Standalone? (y/n)** y  
**What are you trying to achieve?:** Play sound out of headphones rather than computer speakers

The user is in a different country than I am so I’m doing this at a distance. I also wrote the original code on a Mac, and my collaborator is using a PC.

**What did you try to make it work?:**  
Verified that other sounds (e.g. YouTube) DO play through headphones  
Restarted PsychoPy  
Restarted computer with headphones plugged in

**What specifically went wrong when you tried that?:**  
In all cases, sound IN PSYCHOPY still only goes thru computer speakers

I would definitely upgrade your version.

Can you click on the audio component and select a different speaker?
