Hello - searched for this topic in the forum and didn’t turn anything up recent.
I taught a lab class with PsychoPy (using primarily Builder) last winter semester using the PsychoPy text as a required reading for the course. It was a learning curve, but it went really well.
Now that there is a transition to PsychoPy Studio, wondering about the following topics in order to prepare optimally for this course in Winter 2027.
-
will the text book be updated anytime soon?
-
if I use all the experiment scripts created from last year’s course developed with older versions, are there known issues that will arise if I exclusively use PsychoPy Studio throughout the course from the outset?
-
are there any known compatibility issues with legacy open source experiment files and PsychoPy studio that I should be aware of?
-
I would like to share some of the scripts we developed for the course, and I wondered if there was a central repository for people who are using PsychoPy to teach courses specifically. It would be great to have a separate part of the forum dedicated to teaching lab courses. All of the scripts were run locally, though I hope to play around with figuring out how to deploy remotely using an in-house JATOS server.
-
any other general advice?
Thanks so much!
