I have an experiment where I present a rotating annulus for ~1000ms, and at a random time I present a red target circle on the annulus for 1 frame. Once I close my browser tabs and programs, the target almost always appears for me. However, some pilot participants have reported that the target very rarely appears for them. Suggesting, consistent framedropping.
To prevent frame dropping, participants have been instructed to close all browser tabs and resource-intensive programs (email and dropbox).
Is there anything else I can do to reduce frame dropping?
Is there anyway to detect dropped frames or animations not being drawn?
Thanks in advance for any help provided!
