**OS** : Win11
**PsychoPy version** (e.g. 2024.2.4 Py 3.8): 2026.2.3
**Standard Standalone Installation? (y/n)** **Yes**
**Do you want it to also run online? (y/n) Yes**
**What are you trying to achieve?:**

I am building my first experiment in PsychoPy Builder and want to pilot it online via Pavlovia. Specifically, I am trying to link my local experiment file (`.psyexp`) to an existing Pavlovia project repository so I can sync changes consistently.

**What did you try to make it work?**

1. I logged into Pavlovia within PsychoPy Builder.

2. Next to my username, the status displays **“No project”**.

3. When using the drop-down menu next to “No project”, I can locate my repository, but I did not see any option to select it that it is choosen and displayed afterwards.

4. Clicking the **“Sync with Pavlovia”** (globe) button triggers a notification stating that the current file does not belong to any existing project.

5. If I follow the prompt to create a new project, it syncs successfully, but only as a completely new repository.

I cannot re-link an existing Pavlovia repository to my local `.psyexp` file across sessions. PsychoPy treats the experiment as unlinked every time, forcing me to either create a duplicate project on Pavlovia or leave it disconnected.

How do I properly associate an existing local experiment folder with an already created repository on Pavlovia without having to initialize a new project every time?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Best,
Samuel

Does this tip help?

> Don’t delete your repository I know it can be frustrating when there are synchronisation errors between your local PsychoPy folder and its GitLab repository, but please resist the temptation to delete the repository on GitLab and start again. The main reasons to avoid this are: It often doesn’t solve the issue. You will have to find and delete the local git files and folders. There is a risk that you will accidentally delete all of your projects or even all of your group’s projects. You will l…

Yes this worked.

Followed exactly your instructions and now I see my project in the Builder next to my username.

Thank you very much and have a nice day!
