# Adding trackpixx support for the standalone Psychopy

Hi!

- Context: I’m migrating my lab from PTB to Psychopy. I’m trying to work with-in the confines of the Builder because I’d like students who don’t program yet to get started with experiments right away.

- Question: I’d like to integrate the [Trackpixx eyetracker](https://vpixx.com/products/trackpixx/) (Vpixx Technologies) into Builder. I’m currently just planning to follow along with how one of the other eyetrackers is implemented ([e.g.](https://discourse.psychopy.org/t/adding-new-eye-tracker-to-psychopy-with-iohub/21116)). I’d like to develop so others can use. Any guidance I should be aware of? Or anyone else working on this?

- General thought: There are other bits and pieces of integration that might be nice to have with the vpixx systems (e.g., [https://discourse.psychopy.org/t/vpixx-hardware-class/3621/4](https://discourse.psychopy.org/t/vpixx-hardware-class/3621/4)). I will probably also want to circle back to this once I get the eyetracker integrated.

Thanks for getting in touch and it would be great to have you help this endeavour!

There’s actually been some discussion about adding further vpixx hardware support (alongside smoother support for Linux, because the vision/PTB community has been taught by Mario to insist on that 😉 )

David-Elias Künstle (in Felix Wichmann’s lab) has developed the lib below and a key (easy) step is to add that in to PsychoPy as a plugin. Adding TrackPixx to that seems the natural next step. VPixx themselves are onboard with this project and we can support it from Open Science Tools too. I’ll email you and keep you updated with future discussions.

Did this end up going anywhere? I’m also considering to implement TrackPixx integration into psychopy-pixx and I’d like to avoid duplicating work.

It has not gone anywhere (yet). And I’m unlikely to get to it til May or June, but I would also be happy to contribute as opposed to lead, particularly if you already have experience with psychopy plug-ins.

I’d suggest coordinating on the github project listed above. That’s now available as a plugin to psychopy and that’s going to be the place to add further vpixx functionality
